Contemporary Community Center
Summer 2021
The Justice Center has been rethought to be a place that encourages upward mobility. It is a place of refuge and fosters growth rather than judgement. It enhances community & togetherness rather than isolation and intimidation. The idea of a forest is the basis for the design and architecture throughout. Nature is the inspiration for guiding the public and private spaces. The architecture and design is supposed to nurture and provide calm to patrons. Within the center there is a flexibility of space. There are areas of refuge base upon the layout of clustered trees as seen in nature. The idea of boulders were also implemented as an understanding of building off of each other. When stacked, boulder can provide mobility to the next space and also present areas for rest and seating. The sum of everything in nature is working together and has greater benefit than that of its parts. This Community & Justice center has been designed to facilitate fairness and stifle inequality.
